Can anyone help me? How the heck did I get over 8oo clicks on this blog today? I don’t understand where they are coming from. Anyone got any ideas?

Maybe there’s a lot of people out there who like Spaghetti Squash!
I’m really not sure – have you been Freshly Pressed?
I just checked – you haven’t been FP’d. But congrats anyway – that’s a lot of hits!
thank you! but it is a mystery as to why, and where they are coming from. It says that they are coming from yahoo and google, but I have no idea why. Maybe a glitch?
I don’t know – I’ve had a few gremlins lately, but none of them are this good! I found I was mentioned on a wiki site recently about ‘how to write a good blog’ and that gave me a lot of hits, but I only found out when I checked my stats page. I don’t know who put me there, but I didn’t really mind…
I suppose I shouldn’t complain, and I’m not really. I just have to solve mysteries.
I’d be the same – I’d think – ‘what am I doing right here? Can someone please tell me!’
You were Freshly Pressed in a parallel universe, and the numbers got mixed up!
Ah Maddie. I like that! I think it would be uber cool to be FP’d in a parallel universe! A first….I like being first.
It’s over 870 now! If I don’t come back tomorrow I’ve been nabbed by that parallel universe!
I love the different ideas people have come up with! I first thought you must have been Freshly Pressed too. Hmmm, I wonder what it was, but whatever the reason, it’s great that your lovely blog has been getting even more visits!
Thank you
It is a mystery indeed!
I have had days with over 1,500 hits on a single item. Look up the search term that is getting the hits. enjoy it!
Must be because of the recipes. I did look late last night. It seems one recipe is getting most of the hits. This is the first time it’s happened so it was surprising. Thanks for clearing it up a bit! I do enjoy it
Jackie,
Have you checked under Referrers in your stats? I’m guessing you have keywords that are generating the high traffic. Good for you! Ask Tracy Fulks about “creative masturbation”…
Eric
Hi Eric,
I did check the Referrers and it seems to come from Yahoo and Google searches. So I’m not sure what is sending them here. I tried back tracking and it is for a certain recipe Burgoo. who knew?
Hmmm….maybe something in your tags today? That’s wonderful anyway, just go with it!
Oh I’m enjoying the ride, just trying to figure out what I’m riding.
It means the search engine spiders crawled your blog. You’ll notice that you got 815 looks at your “home page/archives.” That’s a great indication that the spiders were here. Also, if you scroll down some, on the left side, just under the flags, you’ll see “Referrers.” The #1 spot is probably held by “search engines.” That’s the spiders telling each other what they found and to come on over here and index stuff. Depending on how often you publish a blog post, which is called “fresh content” in search engine terms, the spiders come by every quarter to every hour. My blog gets spiders every hour, about 50 spiders a day, because I provide fresh content daily, and sometimes three to four times a day.
Wow, Thank you Russel! I was wondering what was going on. I did notice the most of it was from Yahoo and Google search, but had no idea why. Thanks for explaining it to me. I appreciate it.
P.S. Now that the spiders have found you, you probably won’t have a spike like that again, unless you quit blogging for a month or so. Instead, the spiders will even themselves out. When the spiders first found me after a month of blogging, I was getting about 50 hits a day. Then I had that spike of 800 or so. Since then I get those 50 visits a day from the spiders but no big spikes.
ok, yeah today I got about 50. Thanks again Russel, I’m still learning
Uh, because you rock?
By the way, check out my blog today for a shout-out!
Really? wow, you are the best! Thanks
