New Wacky and Fun Kitchen Gadgets

My first post this year on wacky and strange kitchen gadgets! I’ve been doing some digging and here is just a few of things I have come up with. Enjoy and treat yourself to one or two. ;-)

Onion Goggles

Now you know what peeling and chopping onions can do to you! Those tears clouding your eyesight so you slice a finger. Those pesky enzymes called “allinase” and “prensco.”

Onion Goggles fit snugly over your eyes, sealing them up and protecting you from those sulfurous fumes. Okay, maybe they’re not exactly the most fashionable kitchen accessory out there, but at least you don’t have to be afraid of chopping onions any longer!

Features

  • One-size-fits-all plastic goggles
  • Protects your sensitive eyes from that burning sensation you get when chopping onions
  • Comfortable foam seal locks unwanted fumes out
  • Protective case included

Ariete SteakHouse Indoor Grill

The “SteakHouse” indoor grill’s verical design is more than just a space-saving trick—and if you look at more of the pictures you’ll realize it’s not that small in the first place—but instead designed to allow fats to drain from the food into catch trays, preventing them from smoking next to the heating elements. Heating elements on both sides of the food tray speed up cooking times.

Ideally suited for indoor use, the uniquely designed grill cooks in vertical position, so the fats and excessive juices drain into the special tray, cooking healthier and tastier foods, and preventing the formation of annoying smoke, as the fats and juices stay far away from the double exposed vertical heating elements, so your kitchen air has neither smoke nor smells.

Prepara Herb-Savor Keeps Your Herbs Fresh For Weeks

pr450_pip

Prepara Herb-Savor from The Sharper Image. This compact and ingenious storage device prolongs the life of your fresh herbs for up to three weeks by keeping the cut stems in water and its cover isolates your herbs from the rest of the items in your fridge. It has ample capacity but still easily fits inside a standard refrigerator door. The removable stainless steel basket keeps herbs neatly gathered together, and allows for easy washing.

The Prepara Herb-Savor measures 10.8″ x 5.5″ x 2.5″, weighs a mere 1.3 lbs and comes with an one-year warranty. The $29.99 retail price will more than pay for itself when it keeps that spendy bunch of purple basil fresh and delicious for longer than two days. They even report that it keeps asparagus fresh for weeks as well.

The Edible Cookbook

Das-Kochbuch-011-450x337

The first and only Cookbook you can actually read, cook and eat. Made out of 100% fresh pasta it can be opened, filled with ingredients and finally be cooked. Packaged as classic lasagna. The Cookbook was designed as a special project for a large publishing house.

Toasted Wrap

halo_toaster

It’s the future and in this new-age we no longer believe in standard forms. Like a toaster need not be a rectangular box, it may as well be a Halo! A Super-flexible Toaster which is a sheet of heating element; blanketing the bread and making crisp toasts! Not fussy about space, you can fold it into half or roll it into wrap and stow it till next breakfast. Easy baby!

You fold the toaster sheet over the bread. Turn it on and the color will be blue, when it turns red the toast is done!

Love the toaster. My boys eat so much it would be ultra handy. Isn’t it the onion fumes going up your nose that makes your eyes water?

I wondered about that myself but figured ah well ;-)

Ok, the little pink guy is really funny, but I’m seriously going to look at reviews for that vertical indoor grill.

There was a time I’d have bought 9of the grills to give as gifts.
And some onion goggles for me.
Now,I’d just like an armored glove to protect what’s left of my finger from the knife…

I love the idea of the edible cookbook and the grill! The goggles, while cool, won’t be needed because I never go anywhere near onions, haha.

    • JackieP February 27, 2013 at 9:35 am Reply

ah you don’t like onions. there are a lot of people who don’t. Yeah, I love the cookbook too. :-)
